Restore
Restoration in this month (10) allow God to use in a way that you've never done before. Change up your routine get out of doing things the same way. Expect a breakthrough. Live life in expectation. Stir up the Gift. Stop letting your past dictate your future. You are wonderously made, and the future God has in store for you is amazing, but you have to trust Him. Stay faithful to God and watch Him work in your life. I'm a witness that if you just run on and see what the end will be. You will be blessed. ( we are blessed to be a blessing) In this month of restoration I speak life. Lets continue to grow together. Amen.

Love is beautiful thang
"WE is a beautiful thang, you and me is a beautiful thang". Kindred sang those lyrics and they are so true. Black Love is Black Power, Black Love is Black Wealth. It's such a wondrous thing to see black couples in love. Holding hands, showing affection towards each other. In a day and age where the black woman is the most disrespected woman in the world, its great to see her shown respect from a King. The mothers of the Earth have been pushed to the bottom of the totem pole and it's a shame that black men don't do more to show black women love. Tupac said it best "we came from a woman, got our name from a woman...so why do we hate our women?" The dialogue has been lacking in our communities. Too many of our young men are focusing on the wrong things, we aren't teaching them how to be lovers and fighters. It seems most young men don't understand how to be sensitive to a woman's needs, yet at the same time be masculine enough to protect her. We have to teach our young boys respect and regardless of what the world tells them, they will know how to respect the Black Queen. There are still great brothers out here, and at the same time great sisters who aren't what the stereotype displays them as. We all have issues black, white, Asian, etc. Yet our race is the only one that blatantly disrespects our women. We need more Black Love, which will lead to more Black Power, and more Black Wealth...because Love is a beautiful thang..."you and me is a beautiful thang".

STAND
Greetings good people! Can't believe that a whole month has flown by already!! Its already Sept! 2010 is flying! Today is short and sweet, I just want to hit on standing firm in what you believe. There will be times when people will disagree with you and your methods. Even folks that live in your house will doubt you. That's part of life. Even when people support you, that doesn't mean that they will always understand your drive or your train of thought. If you are walking with the guidance of the most high, don't worry about it. If you are pursing the heart of God, nothing else matters. We are all broken imperfect vessels, yet when we decide to stand on the promises and word of God He will work it out for our benefit. The song says "when you've done all you can, stand." I truly believe that, we've got to know that God is working it out for us. We have to keep walking forward in the word, and keep searching for wisdom and keep doing the right things, even when people don't know why. Again we don't have any misconceptions of being perfect because we know we aren't. We have just made a decision to not live our life the way the world lives their life. PERIOD. We still fall and have sin, we are just choosing to stand with God, and people that means that you are going to stand out. People are going to have all kinds of things to say about you, but that's part of it. If we walk with Him, we will have to face persecutions of all kinds. Some say it's not that deep, and we are being extra. You can talk all you want, but we can't play both sides, we have to choose. If you are choosing to Stand, keep on standing, keep on taking the blows, because in the end "you will reap the reward". God is in the business of blessing those who follow His word. "Obedience is better than sacrifice". Stand, good people, stand.

Anything is Possible (freedom)
Greetings good people, happy Monday. It's halfway done, any day that you're breathing is a good day. Today I wanna talk about getting free. I know that has so many levels, and I'm not about to sit here and go through every level. I just mean freedom of whatever you need to be free from. We need to get PEACE of mind. We are dealing with so much nonsense that we really don't have to deal with. We bring so much drama, pain and suffering on ourselves, then we wait for things or people to deliver us from the mess we've done or created. Some things have caused us to be in bondage that may not have been our fault. As children we are sometimes exposed to things that cause us to stray or grow up faster than we should. We have to gain mental freedom, everything is not as it seems. We have to go beyond the surface level to see what's really below. The radio and TV is killing us. We no longer pick up books and read because it's easier to google it. It is impossible to "Know Thy Self" if we've never been exposed. It's sad but some people don't know because they haven't been shown the way. Some do whatever is popular with no knowledge of the consequences. We have some adults who act the same way at 30 as they did at 18. When you look at them crazy, the tell you that you're the one with the problem. We have become so dependent on technology that we don't even have regular human interactions anymore. We text rather than talk. We'd rather listen to music, then to have a conversation. We rather play on FB or Twitter, than take 20 min and read a book. We are in the midst of trouble, and those of us who are truly free have been charged with the role of opening the eyes of the lost. We are fighting on enemy territory and we seem to be out numbered, but when you know better you do better. We can't simply allow the enemy to win. We can't just hand him the ball without a fight. The systematic disposal of the family unit is not by accident. It has been implemented to destroy us. The dehumanization of the black man has already started to take place. We better wake up and realize what's going on around us. We are chasing the wrong things, and in the end it's gone destroy us. This letter is heavy today, but it's needed, if you're tired of being a slave (mentally) pick up a book that will uplift you're mind. Something that will make you question, why is that so? Because someone said it's so? Do your own research and stop drinking the juice just because they say so...(TV,radio,job,etc) WAKE THE PHUCK UP!!!

Month 8
Greeting and happy August. I'm amazed at how fast this calander year is going. 4 more months until Dec. It's simply amazing how time fly's nowadays. I just stopped by to bring encouragement. Some of us have gone through this year and things haven't exactly happened how we thought they would. Promises and dreams that we thought would have come to pass by now are still in limbo. We have seen other people walk into their seasons, and we have genuinely been happy for them. Yet we still sit and patiently ask when will it be my time Lord? I'll leave you with this, in due time. Not our time but His time. God will deliver what He has promised. We must keep pushing keep striving to be better. We can't lose our hope, or our faith. If God said it, it will be done. We always get what we need, not always when we want it, but it always comes on time. Period. We must keep fighting, and keeping working towards those things we want. The promises of God will not return void. It's ok to question and wonder when, but we just have to keep on moving forward. Stay in constant prayer and conversations with God. He hears us and our prayers aren't falling upon deaf ears. God is listening, and when we least expect it, our time will come, your season is coming, stay planted by the waters. Keep helping others, and praying for those who don't understand you. Continue to be kind to one another, and give God the glory, your blessing is on the way. Believe it!!

Breaking News
So let me get this straight (Clearing my throat). If you are the president of a major oil company, and said oil company has the most massive oil spill in US history, if things get too tough you can just quit? Oh and not only quit, quit and walk away with 18 million in severance pay. Ok just making sure I got that right.

Fox News on that BS...again.
Here we go again, but are we really surprised?? Fox news, Fox news, now they are trying to take down Mrs. Shirley Sherrod. She was an official for the USDA, forced to resign after a misleading video clip surfaced and labeled her a racist. She talked about how she had trouble helping a white farmer 24years ago. She said it was hard for her, until she realized it didn't matter that he was white, poor was poor. The latter was not included in the video sent to Fox "News". The Obama administration fell for it again, and as soon as the video clip was released she was forced to resign. Now that the full video has been released and it's clear that those comments were taken out of context, Fox's job has been accomplished. They set out to smear the Obama Administration, and to destroy this woman's career. All this comes from the fact that the Tea Party and NAACP have been going back on forth over who's more racist. This was a ploy by Tea Party members to expose the NAACP as a racist organization...it didn't work. Now everybody is trying to back track and maybe even offer Mrs. Sherrod her job back. Although it's not certain that she will take it back. When will people stop believing the rubbish that comes from Fox. Entertainment they are but respectable news not so much.

Slave Revolt
Today I want to start with something that we are ALL tired of hearing about. Lebron James. Although I would like to go from a different angle. Some are talking about it, yet some brush it off. The letter that Cavs owner Dan Gilbert wrote to the fans of Cleveland. He spewed a lot of hate and disappointment towards Lebron. If you haven't had a chance to read it google it and you'll see. We live in an age of overpaid and sometimes spoiled athletes. I'm not a big fan of Lebron leaving Cleveland for Miami. My reasons have less to do with basketball and more to do with how the already suffering economy of Cleveland will suffer even more now that Lebron has taken his brand to south beach. Regardless of how anyone feels, Lebron is a grown man, and he made a grown man decision. He was a FREE agent. He played out all 7 years of the contract faithfully. Time came and he thought that he had a better chance of winning elsewhere. Dan Gilbert stated that they put the best team around Lebron to win. Obviously you didn't. 7 years no ring. They had the chance to get Amari Stoudemire last year. They didn't get him. Lebron honestly wasn't coming out of the East with the players on his Cleveland team. Anyone who is honest with themselves knows that. Some say Lebron himself should have told Dan Gilbert that he was leaving. How many owners call players and say, "hey we gotta let you go"? If you worked for a big company i.e. ESPN, would the owner of ESPN call you and say that? No. It would more than likely be your boss. Would I have called him and told him I was leaving before it came on TV, yes, but that me, not Lebron. I don't think he was wrong for having his people call. Dan Gilbert lost his best "boy" and he saw all those Millions fly South, for good. His franchise has immediately lost value, ticket sales, etc. I'm sorry Dan Gilbert but you will not win a championship anytime soon. The East is too stacked. Cleveland will be luck to win 40 games next year. I encourage everyone to read "Forty Million dollar slaves" by William Rhoden. There is more than one kind of slavery, and people need to stop putting that word in a box. Lebron did something that seems to get overlooked, he left 30 million dollars on the table. In an age where all we do is say people chase money and fame, Lebron did the opposite. He left a huge amount of money on the table to be a team player. In this day and age of I,I,I. He sacrificed I, fans, and money to win championships. He revolted from Dan and the Cavs, and once that money train left Cleveland, slave driver Dan erupted. People say that this isn't a race issue. What other kind of issue is it. He didn't leave in the middle of a contract, nor did he leave because the money wasn't enough. He left to do something he couldn't do with your franchise and that's win a title. Lebron is 25 years old, he has spent his entire life in Ohio. It's time he broke his shackles and was aloud to grow. I by all means support his revolt.

Untitled
Greetings good people! Hope everyone is having a blessed week so far. Today I want to talk about, coming into your own. That can mean so many different things for so many different people. We all have or will one day come into our own. Our own understanding about ourselves, others, life, etc. We as humans never stop growing, never stop learning, and striving to be better. Alcoholics call it the moment of clarity. I've had moments of clarity on many situations in my life. I've come to the realization that God will still use you through your circumstances. We have goals and dreams, yet getting there will probably be a challenge. I don't mean us not being faithful, obidient, etc. So many of us know that we've done things that have caused our paths to be detoured. Yet what about those who have stayed faithful been obidident, etc. We must pray without ceasing, always stay with the word on our tongues and always give our praise. When we get close to a blessing the enemy will do everything in his power to take focus off God, and have us focus on ourselves. We get depressed, upset or we wallow. I'm here to tell you that God has been too good for us to loose focus for too long. We are human so we will and do fall off track, but the hope has to be in knowing, that trouble won't last long. Our Blessings are on the way, if we just hold on. God's hand never changes. Coming into our own means so many different things, but the one thing that remains constant in everything is God and His love for us. If we put all the focus on him, we won't have time to worry about any of the other things life throws us. Stay focused on God, focused on your family, press towards your purpose/goals/dreams. Keep your hope, and faith. God is in Control!!! Amen!

Be Encourged
I'm so grateful for everything that the Lord has done for me. Keep your heads up, stay in the presence of God. Regardless of what you've done or been through. No matter how long you've been away from God, praying, the word, etc. Doesn't matter, He's waiting. God is a good God. We live in a place where I can just say thank you on a blog, and I'm just grateful. Sometimes you just have to open your mouth and say thank you. We say things in our head, but you have to speak, the word says that we hold the power of life and death in our tongue. So we have to speak. If you're going through something, just speak His name, and watch the enemy shutter. I thank God right now, Hallelujah the highest praise! I give God the praise, because I'm grateful...With your lips, just give God the glory. Things may be bad, but understand they could be worse, just praise Him through your circumstance...As humans we will have moments of weakness, but the darkest time is right before the light comes. Stay strong, stay in Prayer. God is working it out for your benefit!! Just hold on. We go through things so that we may be tested, and sharpened, and purified. When we are weakest, that is when He is strongest. God is in control.

Influence
Peace, peace, good people! Enjoying my Tuesday, listening to D'Angelo, "The Root" and it got me to thinking about something. We are all influenced by something or someone it's inevitable. From childhood to adulthood we are influenced everyday. For some adults family is still the biggest influence, which is very understandable. I believe that some matters we have to go on what we know, or what "we" believe. Some people have gone their whole lives under the influence of things or people. We have to take things for what they are worth, but at the same time still make our own decisions. I don't wanna get caught up in what everybody thinks, and sometimes that may even mean family. You only have one life to live and we have to do what makes us happy. If you're a painter and you want to paint, then you should paint. Even if everyone around you is a Doctor. If we continue to fold under the influence of what everyone else thinks, we wouldn't have a diverse world. I would hate to go through life trying to please other people, only to find myself miserable. Influence can be a great thing, and it can also be a deadly thing. Balance is the key, we must balance family, friends, co-workers, etc. As long as we live we will continue to be influenced by something or someone, but we can't let others influence be the deciding factors in our life decisions...

Boot On Your Neck
Greetings good people! Pray all is well today, raining up here in NY, cold 58 degrees. Blessed to be alive so I won't complain, today I want to talk about how sometimes we go through certain situations, grow and try our best to be better. Yet sometimes you have groups of people, family, friends, etc, who won't let you grow. Now I firmly believe that if you make your bed, you have to sleep in it. I also believe in the redeeming power of forgiveness and growing. It's like when a new Christian who may have been in the streets, has to deal with those around him or her who say, "oh you think you better now", "or you haven't really changed." It's a hard struggle, but I'm here to say in whatever your case or situation is, remove the boot from your neck. You have the right to change your life for the better. Sometimes we have to remove ourselves from certain situations, and people, and start fresh. As hard as it may be to get away from what you're used to, it's usually for the better. People can only keep you down, if you let them, they can only berate you, if you let them. They can only suck your energy and your life away if you let them. I try to see the good in everyone, knowing that there isn't anyone without sin. Some choose to believe that there are greater sins then others, but they aren't. We ALL have fallen short of the glory. The mistakes in your life, don't allow those around you to make you re-live those mistakes over and over again. You have the power to say no. You have the power to choose to be better. You have the power to change your life! Get that boot off your neck!!

Stop Hiding
Peace good people, chilling up here at the J-O, got some Robert Glasper going, just enjoying this Thursday. What are you most afraid of? What do you fear the most? (Outside of God) I ask only because, I've been dealing with certain things, and I thought that I wasn't operating in fear but I really was. Sometimes it's best to just get away from everything, everybody and just sit. I talk to God everyday in my quiet time and just throughout the day. Yet we still need an even deeper conversation. I've officially retired from hiding in plain sight. Regardless of any situation, I always repeat, "Trust God, Trust God". I'm doing my part of course, as we all must, but, we can't get caught up in trying to fix something, or create something. I'm all about pushing and striving for more, but when we try to become the Godhead, then that's when everything turns for the worst. If it's not of God then it must be of Satan right? We must stay covered, by our prayers, constant prayer. Regardless of how strong you get, we all have human moments of self doubt, depression, etc. Yet we can call on the name of the one who gives us strength. I'm a strong man, mentally, spiritually, physically, yet in certain aspects of my life I was hiding, and honestly there is no hiding place. The sooner we become honest with our shortcomings with ourselves the better things will become. We can store thoughts and actions so far in our minds that we forget, but God doesn't forget. It's like leaving bad milk in the fridge, you may not have to drink it, but eventually it's going to affect you. So what are you hiding, in plain sight? What, who are you running from, I challenge you to face it, and even though it may be painful, it will make you a better person...as Mos would say "stop hiding, stop hiding, ain't no hiding place"

Pride
"I'd pray for you, do it some more for you, do what you want me too, guess I'm a fool for you"- Badu
Pride is an ugly think, we gotta move past it, men and women, grown adults, gotta move past it. It's a killer, talking to a co-worker who hasn't talk to her brother in 9months and she can't even really remember why, other than he really made her mad. I'm like is it really worth it? She said he had to call her first...wow. Your sibling! What if (God forbid) the pass tomorrow, and you didn't speak, over what??? nonsense. I started looking over my life at my prideful moments, and what they cost me. I'm glad that I've learned to let things be and ask for help if I need it. I'm too old to hold grudges, but I've also learned that as much as people like to tell you about yourself, they sometimes have trouble doing that same exact thing that they are asking of you. All you can do is let prideful people be prideful. I don't mean pride in self or race or culture, etc. I mean stubborn, I don't care what nobody else says, PRIDE. It's a crying shame, but that's life...."its easy to blame somebody else," but not this time" Badu sings...Let us ALL look in the mirror and take a long hard swallow, even if it hurts, and get rid of it...it is hard, trust I know, I walked in a blizzard for no reason other than pride. I know on some things we just won't budge, but on matters of the heart or fam, lets try and be the bigger person, and just see where it leads us...just a thought.

I ain't saying, I'm just saying
OK, so did anybody else watch that game last night? I mean like seriously come on! I'm not a Cleveland fan, but I am a basketball fan and I don't know what that was last night or the game before. I have never seen a team quit like the Cavs did the past two games. Lebron has never played like that, I'm not saying that he threw the game I would never say that but, his last two performances were awful! Yes he had a triple-double last night, but his energy was so bad. His supporting cast was non -existent except Mo Williams. Anderson V, just sucks, period. He can't be Lebron's go to guy on the pick and roll. I'm mean seriously, I honestly believe that Lebron will leave Cleveland. They had their chance to bring in quality players to help him. If Amari was there do you think Boston would have beat them? No. Instead they went and got Antwan Jamison?? Over Amari are you serious?? That is laughable! Lebron has to learn to get that killer instinct on the court, he doesn't have it. Kobe has it, Jordan had it. Lebron does not...yet. He's only 25, we always forget that because he's been here so long, but he has to have a partner in crime, no great player ever did it alone. Where ever he goes he has to get a Robin. He will get paid ig-nant money this summer, lets just hope his play improves, and he brings multiple rings where ever he lands. As for the remainder of the playoffs, I think it will be a re-peat of last years finals, but Orlando wins. Just my opinion. A healthy Nelson a rejuvenated VC, and a hungry Super Boy. The next few weeks will be very interesting to say the least.

Lena Horne
The Great Lena Horne left this earth at the age of 92 on Sunday. Though I never saw her live, her essence and grace has always been a big part of my life. I admired Ms. Horne because she was a trendsetter she was one of the first African American actresses/singers who really could have been bigger than she was. Most people don't know that Hollywood and Broadway took forever to give her a real chance to shine. Lena Horne was a hell of a actress but because she was black they wouldn't give her the opportunity to show the world what most African-Americans already knew, that Lena would blow everybody out of the water. Her story is one of patience and perseverance. The majority of African American women that you see on Broadway or on screen today owe a great deal of gratitude to Ms. Horne, because she was made to wait in the wings, until the bigotry of Hollywood allowed her to do what she gifted to do. She was clearly a better actress and singer than all of her white counterparts, but she wasn't give the chance to show it on screen. We are blessed that we had her for as long as we did, a true gem, a lady, graceful and eloquent in and out of "stormy weather". The great Lena Horne, you will be missed. God Bless.

New Energy
It's a beautiful thing when you can be creative at the most unexpected times. For the past 5 months I have been really dormant on the music/acting/performing scene. I've been doing a lot of soul searching (shout out to Young Hirsch). Getting myself together, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Growth is a beautiful thing, especially when you can look at yourself and see your flaws and faults and then work to correct them. With that being said, the time of me being quite is about to come to an end. New projects are in the works for the summer. I have two new records coming soon. A mixtape that will be released through the Internet in a few weeks and an EP that will be released in late June or early July. I also will release my first effort as a published author. A book of Poetry and Short Stories. I have missed the acting stage and the performing stage. Yet I am so grateful for the growth over the past 5 months. I know for certain that I have grown more as a man in the past few months then I have in the past few years. God had to take me away from what was comfortable for me to see things that I should have seen before. As a man sometimes it's difficult to really look at ourselves and see what others see. I'm stronger, wiser and more prepared for what the Lord has for me. So what that being said, the drought is over, I'm coming up out of the wilderness, and it's on!!

Keep on Keeping on...
I was talking to a friend this morning on FB, and we were talking about Destiny and how sometimes we can and will get sidetracked. The loss doesn't come in being sidetracked, most people lose because they don't get back up. We all will make mistakes and fall, but the plot of the enemy is to keep us down. Whenever I do something that I feel bad about, I feel unworthy of forgiveness but God looks past our faults. We must always remember that we can try again, and that it is never too late. Life will throw crazy curve balls, but when we are at our weakest that is when He is the strongest. I urge everyone to keep pushing through your circumstances, push through trials and tribulations. Our divine destiny's are waiting for us to claim them we just have to keep on keeping on. Breaking cycles is never an easy thing to do, but we have to work everyday towards, destroying things in our lives that cause us to not be the best we can be. Sometimes you can feel like things aren't going your way or that the plans aren't going right, but I just remember that if it's been done before for someone else, it can be done for me as well. The enemy wants to take your hope, and it's all a battle of the mind. That's why speaking things is so important and at the same time so detrimental. Your thoughts can be diluted, but when you speak positivity, speak life, speak hope, things can and will change. I urge everyone reading this to keep on believing in your God given talents. Be courageous enough to step out on faith or give someone else that encouraging word to do the same. Our dreams can become reality, our destiny is set, we just have to reach up and grab it.

Flood of 2010
Peace and blessings,
This is the start of a new blog, I'll be doing at least once a week. Hopefully I can get up to doing it everyday as the summer approaches. I figured no better way to start then to talk about the Great Flood of 2010. Nashville is a resilient city, so when the news of the flood became Semi-National on Sunday morning the first thing I thought of was my family and friends. Once I knew that everyone was safe, my next reaction was sheer amazement. As I watched from the comfort of my dry apartment in Albany, I sat in awe at the things I saw on TV. The soccer trailer traveling down I-24, the school buses covered to the top with water,Farmers Market totally seiged by water. I sat seemingly helpless. It was very difficult for me to watch everyone dealing with the pain of the water rising and being stuck at home, stores, etc. When the river rose above 50ft it was an unprecedented thing. Watching as the flags on the riverfront disappeared, and as LP field filled with water. I could only send up prayers. Nashville is such a strong city, as of yet I have heard nothing of looting or break-ins or any disruptions. That is where this article changes pace, living in NY State, there were no real stories about the flood. CNN carried no heavy coverage of it live or online. It made me wonder what was news worthy and what wasn't. It reminded me of Katrina in the sense that we really didn't start getting word about it until ,they showed the pictures of people looting (most mind you, to feed their families) It sucks that we live in a time, when there can be a natural disaster in one part of the country but because the media doesn't see it as "news worthy" the story doesn't get carried. I know that the residence of Nashville will continue to come together to rebuild and renew our great city. I pray that we are able to get the government funds that are needed to help with the process. The Cumberland River was turned from a quiet tranquil body of water into a massive locomotive with no brakes. As she recedes from her Hulk state back to Bruce Banner, let us not forgot the unity that we are sharing in this moment, let us not go back to business as usual. Nashvillians must continue to stand up for each other because this moment in time has shown the world that we are a resilient people. Flood or no flood.
